I just finished reading through a suggestion in the "user feedback and suggestions" forum on this website about a misspelled word on one of the forums. One of the points made by the moderator who responded was that when you do a search for a specific word, the responses with the misspelled word will not come up. It reminded me of a commonly misspelled/misused term that comes up quite often on this forum. I'm not being **** about this, but we should all come to an understanding so that for future searches about the "camshaft position sensor" all threads come up. It's a common problem, so users should be able to do a search easily.
Ford calls the camshaft position sensor the "CMP sensor"
International calls the camshaft position sensor the "CAMP sensor"
"CPS" is not a term used by either company.
No, but it is a generally accepted term on the boards, and rarely is there a lack of folks willing to explain it. I do see your point though, may take awhile to retrain myself
I recently replaced mine and had to get it at the Ford dealer(OUCH). The name on the bag was "Synchronizer". I do agree that people should use a common term also.

Just because it is commonly misused does not make it correct. It also doesn't help when you show up to the parts desk to try and purchase the part. That's my main point. I'm not ragging on anyone.
