Complete front axle re-build
Hey guys, has anyone done this? I found my vibration. the front axle shafts have radial play. 4wd still works! I drive almost 100miles a day. I want to tackle this issue!
Also, now that parts guy ed is out of the parts biz, I will be looking at a new power steering pump and steering box this winter. Any ideas?

Can you give some more details on your vibration please. I'm fighting vibration in my front end as well. I feel it in the peddle and floor board. Almost like a grinding feeling in the peddle. I need to inspect my wheel bearings but can you give me a description of your vibration and how you found the radial play?

Stock F250 7.3L PSD 6637 Mod, muffler delete. That's it for now....

Full rebuild (except ring & pinion, gear bearings) two years ago, wheel to wheel, including bearings and full brakes and ball joints. I have always had grinding in 4wd, so I think it is in the gearing or gear bearings.
Took about 5 hours without knowing what to do. If I did it again, I would pull the hub locking mechanism, and pull the axles first.
If you have a 4wd truck, make sure you get the 4wd abs hubs even if you don't have the 4 wheel abs system and grease those (non-serviceable) hub bearings. I didn't grease them and now have to replace the hub bearings (2 years later). Search for "greasing hub bearings" on this site to find out how and why.
