Bought '87 F150 with a 4.9 swap. Pre-owner removed one of the gas tanks. Issue 1. Fuel gauge no longer works. Issue 2. Truck runs but every now and then, while driving, acts like running outa gas. Sometimes stops running all together. Let truck sit for awhile, will restart and run fine till it happens agian.
With all the wires and hoses still on truck from removed tank. will this cause most of all my problems? and where do i start...to make this a single tank system.
Do you hear the frame fuel pump run when you turn the key off and back on after it dies?
If not you may have a bad frame fuel pump.
But you would need to check the power to it to make sure it is getting power when it does not run.
