Now ive heard a LOT of smack talk when it comes to anything besides factory brand glow plugs. im here to defend my beloved aftermarkets, i bought some 2 years ago that get 100 degrees hotter 25% faster. i live in alaska, where we just effin love our cold weather. without using my block heater, those glow plugs fired my old '84 6.9l up in less then 3 seconds everytime in temperatures lower than -20 degrees. and if you dont know what that cold feels like....your **** freezes before it hits the ground. but so far i havent had a single plug go bad or a single problem with my GP system.
Don't you think it would help if you were tell us the brand name & part number of your aftermarket plugs? Coming into here and foaming at the mouth without offering any specific information doesn't do anybody any good and is just a waste of everybody's time, don't ya think?
well like i said, i bought them 2 years ago, they are currently in my engine. in fact why dont you fly up here and try removing parts from my engine in 15 degree weather with frozen tools and no shop? then you can tell me what plugs i have. being a dick about it isnt gonna help man. im not trying to start crap but it looks like you are. i was just here offering my opinion. im planning on changing my plug system to a push button set-up, so when i take them out to service them ill tell you. now calm down man child.
I think I'm being misinterpreted, not trying to be a dick at all, I'm sorry if I came off that way.
With that being said, we here do expect people to be able to back up their claims, to substantiate them with some sort of credible & verifiable means. It is the author's responsibility to provide this, it is never the reader's responsibility to investigate an author's claims and prove or disprove them.
Merely waving your hands in the air like Arnold Horshack - and using bad grammar while doing it - and exclaiming how you've got something better/cheaper/faster/more reliable/whatever than everybody else, but not being able to back yourself up and prove your claims, makes your post about as useful as yesterday's newspaper and doesn't help you earn credibility and respect here.
alrighty just clearing the air. no big deal. and thanks for the forewarning, ill keep that in mind. BTW grammar's for girls, men do physics and math, at least i do anyways
according to a youtube video that has often been linked to on the subject, the motorcraft plugs heat evenly, whereas others become much hotter at the tip. the problem is that when they get this hot they're more prone to failing, as so many people have had trouble with.
common sense says that because there is a difference, it would make sense for the motorcraft plugs to serve the best with their motorcraft controller.
my rig starts right up even on the coldest mornings with motorcraft plugs, and plenty of other guys here say the same thing

So you can do math and physics, yet grammar is beneath you. Really, wow, none of us have that capacity. I'm really impressed by the big talk, you must be so smart. Good for you.

Reason: Removed the unnecessary name-calling. Sorry.
Last experience I had with any glow plugs was taking one and attaching it to heavy ground wire to create a makeshift cigarette lighter for my first car back in '03, a 95 Plymouth Acclaim, off of the battery. "Redneck Cigarette Lighter" if you will.
For informational purposes, it was a Motorcraft glow plug out of a 6.9 IDI (year unknown to me). IIRC the plug heated evenly and served me well for months until I sold it for $10 to my neighbor who believed it was the best thing since ice cold Pabst...until he burned his thumb. Jus' sayin

Most of us here appreciate good grammar and clear writing, and will try harder at helping others when those people respect this culture and write clearly & legibly themselves. There are people here who won't even look past the first few/several words of something written without capitalization & punctuation & whatnot, much less try and offer assistance.
I'm not trying to be condescending or demeaning or anything, just trying to explain the personality of this forum. Do as you like.
