Found my Mobile 1 fluid today and got on top of my power steering flush. Followed the directions on here that made it a breeze. Hardest part was getting the clamp off of the hose, and as stuck as mine was I have no clue when/if it has ever been flushed. Well its nice and red now after I got all the black (yes midnight black) fluid out. Next onto the transmission and filter. Still thinking in the back of my head now, if the power steering was that bad, whats the trans going to look like.
But thanks again guys for all the links on write-ups.
I have heard that also, but I did mine the first time, from the looks of it at 170k and its fine now at 210k. I grossed 24k towing recently and all is well. If new fluid kills it then it was meant to be. It probibly would have gone out soon anyway. The way I looked at it is I got all the old nasty stuff out and it can only help. I also added a filter to catch any junk that may get cleaned out by the new detergents in the new fluid.
My trans fluid has always looked worse than the trans. Granted who knows if the PS fluid ever got changed before I did it, and I am at about 40,000miles on my trans.
