Im a young ford tech and have limited knowledge on anything older. I had an uncle/aunt pass away recently and my uncle was a mechanic all his life passed of old age. He and my aunt had two like new trucks we just recently purchased. One is going to my Dad and one is mine. I got a 1982 f100 step side short bed 302 4 speed truck its black with american racing wheels its absolutely perfect inside and out interior is like new wood bed is like new its all tip top shape besides been sitting since they got sick and now has an issue. The truck has had 2,000 miles put on it in 11 years...it has 81k original miles...anyways it ran perfect after sitting awhile now even in neutral feels that brakes are locked up but everyone seems to think its clutch related. Once started it is hard to get in gear and nearly impossible...any ideas?? I thought slave cylinder but not sure it has one.
An 82 shouldn't have a slave cylinder as they were mechanical, I think, until 83. Can you roll it by hand? Or move it with another vehicle? Or is it just hard to get into gear?
Your post is a bit confusing. If you suspect the brakes are locked up, I would jack the truck up and try to spin each wheel by hand. If they all spin free, then I would start looking at the clutch linkage. It may need adjustment.
