Transmission Compatibility question
I currently have a 81 F-350 with the 400 (351M) engine with the OEM 4 speed trans mission. I would like to put a 5 speed manual in it to improve the fuel economy. Is there a 5 speed manual that will fit the bell housing? If not what automatics will fit the engine. Thanks Terry

yes, but their are some issues.
zf-42 5speed can work from a 460 ford. several issues have to be addressed to work properly. have many photo's and specs on this setup. drop message. also gary lewis just got one going and good tech also on this setup. drop a message with him also, good read. we both accompolished the same results but went different routes on flywheels. talk soon and click my photobucket account for photos. hope it helps.
