tires, again

i want to get rid of the crappy Firestone rubber on my truck. tires are in good shape, but i just dont trust them. what brands under 180 each is good, will give me decent mileage.i never go offroad so a nice highway tread is perfect.
FIRESTONE/BRIDGSTONE will not go back on

What size?
Cooper would be a decent choice. Michelin will probably exceed your budget. Could try the BF goodwrich options too.

Hankook dynapro ATMs I love them. 20000 and still going strong. Plenty of tread and easy on the wallet

Another + 1 for Cooper tires.
Had cobras on my 93 lightning. They were so amazing I put them on my dads 79 bandit trans am.
The Cooper HT tires are great smooth quiet and efficient tires.
Also I'm told Cooper are made in America.

EDIT:
Looks like it's the AT3 or the CTS in your tire size:

245/65/17 in the H/T would be a good choice for your budget.

I was going to suggest this also.245/70/17s have more tires to choose from and believe it or not, they are cheaper in price then 235/70/17s! I went back with NITTO CROSSTEK/TRUCK-SUV tires. These tires have a 60K mile warranty, and are super quiet and ride super smooth!

I put LT265/70/17's on mine, Dayton timberline AT2's (load range C) at 34000 miles. I now have almost 6 years and 8 almost 82000 miles on these tires and have about 3/16 before I hit the wear indicator. I will be taking it in this spring to put on a new set of the same tire again. I believe they were 168 per tire when I got them but after my experience with the tires I will pay whatever they are asking for them.
