What kind of carb?Could be a stuck needle/seat or mechanical obstruction/damage.Was there any work done just prior to the leak?More info would be helpful.
It's the stock carb so maybe a motorcraft 2100? The fuel literally pours out of the vacuum port when the truck is running. Only work it's had done in that area was the base gasket got replaced but there wasn't anything that got hit or changed on the carb itself.
Maybe a 2150?Either way it sounds like a rebuild is in order.Don't run the truck like that as a fire is bound to happen. One of my trucks caught fire from a leaky fuel filter.I was able to put it out quickly though.I carry a 3 lb fire extinguisher in any vehicle I drive.Ya never know.Rebuild kits are cheap and once you take the carb apart the problem should be evident.I'm still thinking stuck needle in the seat.
Yeah, i know what you mean. All three trucks have this issue right now. I think ill take apart the one at home and see whats what inside there first. Its probably all the same problem.
After tearing into one of the leaky carbs it seems that it is dumpin fuel into the engine and when the throttle is closed the gas backs up and comes out the vac advance hole in the passenger side barrel. What now?
You're going to have to rebuild the carb. They're pretty simple to do.Just get a good rebuild kit and follow the directions.Clean it very well and make sure all the new parts go in.Remove the float and check that it doesn't have any leaks by placing it in a container of water to see that it floats. If you see any air bubbles when it's submerged,it has a leak and needs replacing.
