FT block?

Ok so i just returned from the junkyard where i picked up what i thought was a 390 to rebuild. It says 390 on the valve cover and i measured the stroke with a dowel and it is about 3.75". I washed it off tonight and there is a mirror image '105' on the front drivers side of the block. I got looking in my book(Steve Christ Rebuilding big block fords) and it shows a mirror image '105' on the block as being an FT block. My question is are there any FE blocks with this as well and if I do have an FT block should i just toss it and start over? The heads have D2TE AA cast into them which is supposed to be a 390 head '72 to '76. The truck was a 76 two wheel drive.

Thanks

FT block?

The mirror 105 blocks are FT style blocks that are slightly modified to work with all the regular FE parts. My block is a mirror 105 block. Most FT blocks have nothing at all in that area. You have yourself a block that is just a little stronger than the regular 390. Parts interchange characteristics are the same as the FE.

FT block?

The Michigan Casting Center (MMC) took over FE and FT production after ’72 and the 105 number is their calling card. All their blocks have the extra cranksaddle webbing but not all of them have heavy cylinder walls.
