Dreaming of a project Expy!

Yesterday, I saw a Deep Wedgewood blue '99 for under $3,000 that was a 4x4 version with a 4.6L(173,000 miles). Thinking of a total stock resto, but with a 3v V-10 and Torqshift 5-speed automatic to replace current tired engine/tranny combo. Also found a '00 Tropic green 5.4-powered Expy for $3,250 for the project. I wonder how much a new 3v V-10 engine cost through Ford Parts? Probably better to find a donor vehicle to get engine and tranny out of, huh? A FACTORY V-10 Expy would be nice.....

You wouldn't have to perform a swap, you know that Excursion could be ordered with the 310hp/425 lb./ft. of torque V10 from the factory all years of production(2000-2005). In fact, if I remember correctly, in Excursion 4x4 models, the V10 was the standard engine. I've seen some V10 Excursions for sale on used lots. You should be able to find a decent example cheaper than doing a swap from a 5.4L V8, or a diesel.
