Wow, what a deal. Started trouble shooting a rough idle and stumble. Replaced plug coil and truck ran fine for a few months. Earlier this week truck started running real bad, no cel. Found that the issue was on the driver's side of the motor. I could lift coil and injector harnesses, but you tell no difference in how the engine ran, which was real bad. Did some research and decided to look at the cat, I removed the o2 sensors above the cat and the one in the cat, truck ideled better. Also when I pulled the cat, a bunch of junk came out. I decided to take the truck to Ford to get a cat under warranty, but because the truck wouldn't throw a code they wouldn't replace it.. I decided to work on the truck myself because the dealership is to expensive. I drove the truck to put fuel in and it ran ok, but after I put 10 to 15 miles on it the truck started to run real bad again.
I decide to replace plugs and bought a coil to start changing out with other ones. I started the truck to move in the driveway and the truck lugs and stalls, as it was running real rich. I remove all spark plugs on the drivers side and notice #6 sparkplug hole is full of fuel and is hydrolocked. That same hole I broke off the plug so I'll get the extraction tool and get it out and get a new injector.
So, I guess the question is, if I bent a rod or hurt the motor will this be under the extended warranty for the junk injectors? The truck only has 62k on it.
And if it will be covered under warranty, do I put it all back together? And how do I go about getting Ford to cover this?
Any input is welcome. This is my daughter's truck, and she will be leaving for college next fall. We need the truck, and can't really afford to spend a bunch on it, nor get a new truck right now.
Update: removed all sparkplugs and tried to move the motor by hand, it won't budge clockwise or counter clockwise. Guess i'll take it to the dealer and see about waranty.
Motor is shot probaly a bad piston or badly bent rod. 60k on the motor always changed oil and filter @ 3k, I've always been a Ford man, but this makes me sick. I love the truck, but the motor problems in these trucks is a real rip off..
Just because the motor wouldn't turn doesn't mean its a bent rod... Try starting it with no plugs, and let it blow anything out. It may very well be that you bent a rod... Keep us updated none the less!

Tried moving the motor with the plugs out of the motor.
Really depends on what the dealership finds. Sounds like it did hydrolock. Also sounds like the leaky injector took out the CAT, and the then got stuck open causing the hydrolock. Those injectors are crap and it wasn't just the 04/05 models. My wife's 06 Expy had leaky injectors on bank 2 which nuked the CAT. The dealer replaced the same CAT twice and never once make the connection to a bad injector. I ended up testing the injectors myself, found that some were leaking and replaced them all on bank 2 myself. I still need to go after bank 1.
Button your rig up and take'r to the dealer and don't mention you've been working in it yourself.
just so you know, there was a problem with 05 sticking injectors and Ford had to cover alot of engines that hydrolocked like yours. print this off and take it to the dealer:
Dealer looked up the VIN said if the injector caused the problem it should be covered, we'll see towing it to the dealer on Thursday crossing my fingers that it is covered.
I finally got the truck to Ford and they found an injector stuck open on cylinder #6 which caused engine failure. The dealership is turning paper work into Ford to warranty for a new engine. So, if this works out and I get this fixed I'll be feeling alot better about Ford.
Does Ford have fixes for some of these problems with the 3v engines? You would think if Ford warrantys a short block for 100k they would address some of the problems with this design..
Ford blows my mind lol.. So, Ford is paying for a short block due to a injector failure but, won't pay to put new injectors in, the sevice writer will only pay for the the one that went bad. He said the tensioners looked good and the chain guides look good as well, he said he will install new tensioner seals. What else shoud I have them replace?
