Could be an old farm/ranch truck with a slide in water tank to move water to the stock tanks when the rains fail and the creeks dried up.
Looked as if the channel iron was a place for a winch cable to slide in
Need not to be street legal. Used on back roads and farm roads.
Some had slide in fuel tanks to feed the tractors and combines...they were braver than most..... We used fuel trailers
If it was a farm/ranch truck, then it was well used before they got rid of it...had to get every penny out of an item.
Bubble gum and coat hanger fixes were/are the norm

Exactly, this is a 1 ton F 350 pickup that was converted to dual rear wheels for stability when carrying a big camper in its prime. Extended rear bumpers where common when campers overhung the rear.Note box cut out of rear fender, evidence of additional storage compartments for camping gear. Rear window removed, probably had a cab boot to camper. 9' bed "bobed" down to 8' to fit a regular 8' camper. Probably carried something big on the front also, probably motorcyles that blocked the headlights, so they extended the headlights out as far as possible.Built for function, not looks.

Randy...this is a great photo example of "Vehicular Molestation".
I think that extra long rear bumper is so they can back a little closer to the edge of the cliff for easier jumping
access when they finally realize what moronic D-bags they truly are and rightly decide to remove themselves
from the gene-pool.
I would not want to see Roberts face when he saw that "sawsall" destroyed grille....it's a 62 isn't it??
