I replace the entire fuel filter housing assembly ( brand new $300) also the fuel pump & rubber lines to the bowl. I thought I was good to go... Than on my way to work i can snell fuel in the cab through the heater, I get to work and check. Yep there's fuel in the valley after all that. It's not pouring out. But it is leaking. What do I do to check components that could possibly leaking???!!!! Help please
I would get some paper towels or rags and mop everything up, then run it a while and see where the puddle in the valley starts. At least that will narrow your quest to front or back...
You may have to get in there with a mirror to see where it is coming from.
Yeah , we'll I cleaned it dry and everything after getting the old housing out. I've driven it for about 50 minutes total so far with the new bowl. So idk I can dry it and watch it for a little while
I have an inspection mirror. But it's so dang tight in there you know , & also the guy that owned the truck before me put an intercooler on it from a 2000 7.3. I believe. Soviet makes things even tighter
Could be something simple too. A loose clamp (or one that is not all the way onto the nipple that the hose connects to) the fuel filter lid could be loose, etc.
Just for clarification, you replaced the whole bowl. Is that with anew one, or another used one? Just curious since if it was used, it could still be a bad o-ring.
Did you buy the pre-made hoses or did you just buy stock hose and cut your own? If you did the latter, is it SAE30R9 (high pressure or "fuel injection" hose) or just SAE30R7 fuel line?
Yeah, you really need to clean it up, then watch it while it is running so you can see where the leak is coming from. After 50 miles, it may be pooled up where it is actually originating and running to somewhere else that is easier to see...
Yeah. I bought the whole new assembly from rock auto. Comes with everything. Also I primed the filter before starting. And I did cut the fuel lines myself. But I'm 99.9% sure that it's high pressure fuel line. Or whatever it's called
Also make sure you are NOT using standard worm drive clamps.i use fuel injection hose clamps.auro parts stores have them but u will prob have to ask.and make sure u have high pressure hose. If u need some,i have some extra i can send ya.i use aeroquip blue that is the same i got from clay.they are cheap from clay though also.
I don't know about the blue stuff but I bought my SAE30R9 hose at Auto Zone (it 'aint cheap!). Fuel injection style clamps there too. They came like 4 to a package and were hanging in one of the aisles.
