Trans info?
Hey, just out of curiosity, does any one know what kind of power a t-9 trans can handle?(such as a modified flat head). what about the rest of the drivetrain? Thanks.

I mean the t9 truck trans. my 51 f5 has what i believe is a borg-warner 4-speed spur type/t9 trans. where they used in 51? i have info that says they were only used from 1930 to 1950. what would it be if they were not used in 51. my trans i deffinantly a four speed un-synchronized though. and like asked before what kind of power can my trans and drivetrain handle?

From what I have read the t98 was an optional transmission in the f1 thru f6 trucks and offered as standard equipment behind the 254 big six in the f6 ford only. The t9 was available at least till 52. I parted out a 52 f5 with one in it. The ratios are the same as a t98. As far as its durability I can assure you that it can handle whatever a highly modified flat motor can throw at it. Its life will be dependent on your ability to shift it.

I think what you mean is the "59T"??? (i could be wrong) That was the spur gear. The T98s as F6guy stated was offered, but tough to find. They have all the same gears as the 53 and on T98s. But yeah the spur gear type trans is TOUGH. People hate them because they are not syncronized, but slow down and take your time, youll get the hang of it
