But I have Bosch plugs in mine and it runs just fine. Never have heard a good explanation as to why non-motorcraft plugs can cause problems.

What about the O2 sensor? That is something that is required to heat up for proper function.

A long shot, but what about the fuel filter?

My Ranger does the exact same thing and I believe it is due to a vacuum leak in the brake booster. A Vac gauge could help you diagnose this part.

How long does it take after stop to happen again?
Again its hard to diagnose. An experienced mechanic might have a much better chance at finding out whats wrong by just listening to how it runs.
or not running..

It happens basically everytime the truck is started......doesn't matter if it's hot or cold........

You may want to read the link about the upstream O2 sensor.

As far as I know the o2 sensors have no effect until the engine reaches a certain temp.
At least thats how it used to be..
