Ok, followed the directions for the high idle mod from the tech folder, but I seem to be having some issues.
Found the wires quite easily, and aside from it being a pain to get wire strippers and crimpers up into the tight spots, it really wasn't bad putting it together. I think I had it together in about 15 minutes. I picked up a toggle switch with a light, so I also ran a wire from the ground pin on it to the bolt that holds the fuse box to the chassis.
On initial KOEO the light for the switch was on, so I flipped the switch the other way so that it wouldn't start in high-idle. Started the truck up, let it sit for a few seconds and get to a consistent idle, then flipped the switch. Nothing happened, and now it didn't even light up.
Shut the truck off, reversed the wire's location on the switch even though it shouldn't matter, and tried again. Now at KOEO it didn't even light up in any position. Started it up, tried the switch in both positions, and nothing.
So I shut everything off again, disconnected everything from the switch, and made a jumper so I could manually cross the wires after I was started up. Started up, crossed the wires, nothing.
My connections are good, so I'm at a loss. Perhaps there are more than one wire that match the descriptions and I have the wrong wire(s)?
I used to drive fire trucks and our trucks had high idle switches that instantly put the truck into high idle... no delay. Is there perhaps a delay on these trucks and I'm just not waiting long enough?
Help? I was gonna use that today to assist in my coolant flush, but I guess I'll just go without it...
Figured out my problem... To my eyes, with the light I had available, the green and white wire looked like blue and yellow. I did have the wrong wire from the bundle above the parking brake. Got the right one put together, still didn't work, so checked fuse 29 (where the white/blue wire from above the OBDII connector goes) and it was blown. Swapped it out with a spare fuse and it worked perfectly!
