Well, I am at the wiring phase and with an original wiring diagram the only thing I know is that the low, high beams and high beam indicator are correct. I have an aftermarket column and thought I had it wired correctly, but last night while testing brake lights. I had the left rear and the two from park lights come on, no right rear. I can get all four park lights to light when I pull the light switch and then this. Still no directionals.
The diagram that I am using does not show directions for the '55, but since all lights are dual filaments I am sure this can be done. Can someone advise?
Most of the after market columns use the GM wiring system.
Horn Switch - Black
Left front turn - Light Blue
Right front turn - Blue
Hazzard - Brown
Turn flasher - Purple
Left rear turn - Yellow
Right rear turn - Green
Brake Switch - White
Is it normal on these old trucks to have the park lights go out when you pull the switch to turn on the headlights?
Still working the turn signal issue, but working through this methodically.
Thanks,
Pat
That depends on your light switch. If you are using an old switch the parking lights are separate. If I remember correctly, OEM light switches were changed starting about 1963 so that parking lights were on with headlights. Before that they were on separate internal circuits. I remember modifying a 57 Chevy light switch may years ago so that the parking lights would come on with the headlights...
