I think that's a bit of a stretch Troy. I liked my '08 truck just fine, as do lots of folks in the 6.4L forum. Sure was a pig on fuel, but that doesn't mean that everyone is trying to get rid of them.
I have talked to several 6.4 dually drivers that are pulling 5th wheels similar to mine. Most of them seem pleased with their trucks other than the fuel mileage. Our neighbor in California campground this summer was complaining about the mileage with his Cummins also, I think it is a 2010 shortbed dually. I took him for a 100 mile trip in my truck and he couldn't believe the mileages on the screen. I don't know how accurate the display is. I guess it all depends on how bad you want a new truck. Life's short, at 64 I think about it more and more, if you want a new truck quit thinking about it and just do it. You'll love the truck and it won't be long before you forget about the money. If you can't afford to get a new truck, then quit thinking about it because you'll drive yourself crazy. Just the thoughts of an old guy, good luck with YOU'RE decision.
In my opinion there is no need for 4.10 gears with the 6.7 unless you're talking about dual rear wheels. Most of the Lariat CC trucks have 3.55 to include mine. The engine is so powerful that you really don't need to concern yourself.
Good luck in whatever decision you make. I've had my forest green cc lariat since July 2011 and I'm still giddy about driving to and from work. My poor motorcycle is missing me.

Maybe.... But when I visit the Ford/Dodge dealer where my cousin works I will estimate 90% of the time I will see a 6.4 block in the "Black Box" waiting for pick up and alot their 6.4 customers are opting to trade for a 6.7 Super Duty or the 6.7 RAM and these trucks even still have warrenty left. It's a real shame these guys are having to deal with this nonsense.

There is talk on other sites about 6.7's arriving in the same manner, and even in greater numbers.
I think it must be part of human nature to start "noticing" things when you're scared about something you have.
I'm certainly not trying to talk anyone in to 4.10 rearend. I only mentioned it because of the original post. I thought he might be interested in the mileage ability with that rearend. The truck is dual rear wheel. I don't know what is or isn't necessary, but sure love mine, as I'm sure you all do as well.
I ditched my 2010 6.4 for the 2011 6.7. If you have the money and don't mind the upgrade cost, there's a world of difference between the two trucks.
I am so very glad my POS 6.4 is in some other person's hands and not my own. I hated making the payments on the 6.4, but honestly don't mind them on the 6.7. Its a good truck and doesn't even have me interested in the new trucks that are out. Could care less.

About a year ago I traded my '08 F-450 pickup for a '12 F-450 pickup. Both trucks have the 4.30 axle ratio. My '12 is getting about 4-5 mpg better non-towing mileage than the '08. Towing mileage is about 2 mpg better. The 6.4 had a lot of power but the 6.7's towing ability is almost unbelievable the way it can accelerate with a load and hold the speed on a hill.

My 08 F350 DRW had 4:30 rear end, my 2011 F450 has 4:30 rear end.
Same 5th wheel, same trips, my F450 gets 30% on average better mileage than my 08.
That plus air conditioned seats made it a big win for me.
It's interesting that not a single 6.7 psd owners regrets trading up from the 6.4 psd.
Also notice the lack of 6.7 psd owners recommendation of opening the hood and checking the fluids at every fill up like in the 6.4 psd forum! My God if I did that my hood latch would have to be replaced annually.
The only thing I regret is that the '12 F-450 pickup doesn't have the same capacity rear axle and the commercial quality 19.5" wheels that the '08 had. They do have the same GCWR of 33,000#'s and so far I can't see any difference in how the trucks handle a load. The power of the 6.7 and the 6 speed trans really make a difference in these trucks.
Thanks all for your input. I had to log in with my facebook account. Anyway it hasn't been completely trouble free. I just had to replace the damn A/C compressor this last month and I was only 9 months out of warrenty. Ford would't cover and I had had A/C problems before. On this last trip to AZ when I got such crappy mileage I noticed that my rear fender and 5th wheel had quite a bit of diesel soot on them and my tailpipes have really never been as clean as some other 08/09's I have seen. I took it in when it was still a month left on warrenty and they couldn't find anything wrong. So I did go drive an 2012 today and I have to say it is a very impressive truck. The one I drove had 3:73's. The salesman had me reset the LOM and I kinda flogged it and by the time I got back to the dealer (about a 15 mile trip) it read 15.9 MPG. I know you can't rely on the LOM but if I would have been in my truck I would have been lucky to get 12 driving the way I was driving. I was also impressed with the way the truck rode. Seemed a lot smoother than mine. Even the wife thought it was easier on the girls as she says. Soo, I'm thinking since I'm getting close to retirement and will be traveling more, the 3-4 mpg extra when fuel gets above $4 again will help pay a little. Plus the heated/cooled seats sure were nice. So If I can get a descent trade I'm thinking I will pull the trigger. Cause by the time I put a tuner exhaust and all the goodies to get better mpgs on this truck that would be around 4K and I still would be close to getting 3-4 mpgs better. I have even thought about the cost of the DPF fluid. Again all thanks for your input.
