Here's the deal. I'm going to one 25.5 or 38gl tank and doing a fuel sump. I know the 38 will fit but I can't find the dimensions on the 25.5 any one know?
Mike have you read dzl jims write up on his site? He got the 38 gallon from rockauto.com part number f26e. The bronco tank is a 33 gallon and he said the model year didnt matter. Hope this helps.
I thought about this for a long time but finally put in a auxiliary 40 gallon tank inbetween my tool box and 5th wheel hitch. I put a electric solenoid switch on it and a small transfer pump so on the move I can pump fuel into my front tank. Works great so I forgot about the idea of a bigger tank. You I'm sure need all the space in your bed so what I do wouldn't work for you.
PS, that black tank was the source of my 'water' problem!!
I have an alluminum 33 gallon cell for inside my tool chest type box.fits perfect and room for air tank and compressor at end and room on top for tools.with a sending unit.going to do a gauge panel with fuel gauge and air pressure with transfer pump switch and air switch.
So Aaron, as we steal Mike's thread LOL, How can I put a gauge on mine. As I use it, I know 'about' how much fuel I have but sure would like a gauge. The tank sold as a 40 gallon tank but 37 gallons is all I could put in it. The line you draw fuel from is a couple of inches off the bottom and when I fill it, I don't fill to the very top because of expansion. So, I have 33 gallons of usable fuel, would the gauge have to be the fill cap??
If it were mine....i would get a standard street rod universal sender with a resistance range that is easy to get an aftermarket gauge for. You will probably have to just add the hole to mount it in.the senders come with a really long arm that is just trimmed to obtain the proper swing ratio to tank.the wire IF not long enough(never seen that always trimm) could be built from coat hanger material to make longer.
my tank is actually an alluminum boat tank from a buddy.i wouldnt let him.mout the ugly thing.in the middle of his 70 shortbed .so i bought him a fuel call and took this cell.was for my cummins project.but it is gone so the psd needs it
Alright Aaron, thanks for that info. What I do now, after completely filling up I run my rear tank down to half then switch to the front tank. I run it to half and switch on the pump and fill it to full. Shut it off and when its at half again switch the pump on until it full again. After doing this twice its usually empty because the little pump will barely pump fuel faster then I'm using it. The back tank is my 'reserve' in case I can't find a gas station for awhile.
