I have a99 5.4 and its missing slightly when cold mostly .can anyone help with cause. I'm thinking egr poss did tune up 7 mos ago so I don't think it's plugs or coil pacs seems to get better when it warms up
See if the truck is trying to give you any codes. Bring her to an auto store like napa,auto zone, advance auto and so on. They will do it for FREE and who knows while you're there you could buy the part you need to fix her
I would probably check the IAC or the DPFE sensor, I have seen both cause the problem you are describing. Could possibly be the EGR valve, but I would check the DPFE sensor first.
If it's the IAC or related to the IAC, it will generally run better after the engine heats up.
The best I can remember if it's the DPFE (controls the EGR valve) or EGR valve related, it's the opposite. It runs better cold than when warmed up. It also causes the engine to skip and stumble during acceleration and is pretty non-existent when cruising.

My feeling on this kind of issue is a connector seating problem that is vibration sensitive and may get sleightly better when the temp get higher due to expansion.
Check the crank sensor connector seating.
