I have purchased a 2000 X 2wd that belonged to my boss. It is in great shape and I am looking forward to driving it for as long as it will serve it's purpose. He pulled a travel trailer with for the last six years and the rear springs have some sag to them. I did some research on line and found an add a leaf spring from Skyjacker. My question to you guys is can I put it on myself or should I take it to a shop. I have owned quite a few HD trucks and have never had the need to do any suspension modifications. Any help would be appreciated.
I would look into the air bags instead of the add a leaf. I just dont think in the long run you will get what you want with the add a leaf.
Yes either one you should be able to install on your own. Many have documented all sorts of installs, ya just gotta search, as there is a tonne of info on here.
I did the full spring upgrade, but I also have the 4 x 4, so it a little different on the front, so over all different dynamics on the reasoning for springs.
Air bags will definitely get rid of the rear sag on your truck, among other benefits. We offer a 57132 LOADLIFTER 5000; LEAF SPRING LEVELING KIT for your application. Let me know if you have any questions.
