Sometime when I am cruising down the road, I can hear a kettle sound. From inside the truck it sounds like its coming from somewhere on the passenger side, but its hard to tell. It has been doing it for almost a year now, hasnt gotten worse or better...but stays relatively the same. Its only every now and then! It can be when I am on the accelerator, or when I let off the accelerator.
Any good way to check for this? I would imagine it would have to be at a spot where I am not losing coolant...prob too small for the naked eye? Or are you speaking of a larger crack?
My driver side up-pipe was replaced in August 2011 due to a crack. It made a whistling noise like a kettle at times and did not leave any soot on the firewall. It was cracked inside the flex tubing.
