oxygen sensor testing

I am have gas milage problems with my 350 460 truck. I have replaced the o2 sensor.

I have read here that when the sensor is warmed up it should swing between .3 and .7 volts when system goes into closed loop.

my sensor will rise from .1 to .5 volts as it warms up and stay there with no changing of the voltage. (no swing) I also have a scope but not sure what i am looking for.

is my system in closed loop or is this part of my gas millage problem?

if the 02 signal is suppose to swing, what would keep it from working properly?

thanks

What test procedure are you using - Haynes, Ford/Helm, Chilton's, or some other? I recommend Haynes or Ford.

Try and pull some codes from the computer. If it constantly stays high or low, then it could be a sign of other problems(too rich or too lean).
