So for the third time an MSD product has left me stranded. Last year it was a 6A box. Then it was a blaster coil and tonight it was a Street Fire ignition box. You think I would have learned my lesson. At least I didn't remove the dura spark stuff so I was able to fix it on the side of the road. Better off just keeping the stock stuff.
had a issue once similar to this. had a voltage regulator feeding positive voltage back through a ground. was a expensive lesson but lesson was learned. lost 2 MSD 6a boxes and a alternator during the learning curve. I now have since gotten rid of the voltage regulator and run a single wire system off alternator, simplier setup. MSD is good stuff but if your OEM stuff has some issues can be a pain in the AZZ. the voltage regulator has a diode in it and it failed and bad things happened$$$$ 1977 ford 4wd truck.
I noticed last week that the wiring to the voltage regulator was causing charging issues. Seams one of the wires is bad and when I move it around it goes from 14.5v to 12.5v. I'm investigating a G3 or GM 1 wire conversion but havent made up my mind yet. I'll check it out once this storm blows through.
