Yet Another Highboy Build...

Well, as we now the Highboy's steering setup was not the greatest, so I've been working on a way to convert to a 2wd Saginaw gear on the outside of the frame to run a crossover setup. I'm also contemplating whether or not to use a 1980-1996 Ford gear and mount it to the inside of the frame. From what I have researched both gears are pretty stout and have plenty of aftermarket available to them. I have boxed the inside of the frame rail and I am going to run DOM tubing through both sides to insure strength. What is your opinions on the steering gear I should use<a href="http://s1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/Highboy74/?action=view&amp;current=DSCN0591.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/Highboy74/DSCN0591.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a<a href="http://s1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/Highboy74/?action=view&amp;current=DSCN0590.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/Highboy74/DSCN0590.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a<a href="http://s1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/Highboy74/?action=view&amp;current=DSCN0589.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/Highboy74/DSCN0589.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a<a href="http://s1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/Highboy74/?action=view&amp;current=DSCN0588.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/Highboy74/DSCN0588.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a<a href="http://s1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/Highboy74/?action=view&amp;current=DSCN0586.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/Highboy74/DSCN0586.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a<a href="http://s1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/Highboy74/?action=view&amp;current=DSCN0585.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/Highboy74/DSCN0585.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Keep us posted!
I think that is the best steering for the Highboy trucks, saginaw is the best.
I have the 2wd box, and its not great.

What size wheels and tires? Any aftermarket lift?

I went with the 78-79 box on mine. Just starting the put together process. See the thread starting at this post....

The wheels are Allied and the tires are 37x13.50x17 Toyos. The suspension is all custom leaf packs from North County Spring. I went with 64’ leafs in the rear and a shackle flip.
