Yep, HB project here but my main concern with the rubber mount under the tranny is the tailshaft housing possibly cracking or breaking if using poly motor mounts.
I already have all the poly stuff for my '75. Leaf springs and shackles, t-case, body mounts and now soon the WCB mounts. But I'd like to replace the factory rubber tranny mount for poly just so everything is up to par and to be on the safe side of not breaking the tailshaft housing.
I would also like to replace the factory rubber mount on the '79 F250 Supercab 4x4 I'm picking up Wed.
While this truck has the 400/C6/203 setup, I'm planning on tossing the 400 and 203 to replace with a 460 and 205. I know this whole setup is married so I'm aware the tranny mount is different than the HB mount.
The other day Grinner mentioned he used l&l mounts because thats what L&l told him for clearence issues with his headers,(right location) when he mentioned that I wondered how it would be with WCB mounts and clearence issues.with L&L headers (chassie exit) tolerance?
Engine mounts arrived today. Not bad for coast to coast. They actually came USPS, unlike UPS Ground like they said. Shipping was $10.48 per the label. I guess they like to pocket the $5+ as "handling" ???
They are for the most part like the photos in the first post. Certainly heavy-duty.
They are missing the washer(s) for the frame mounting perch stud/nut however. Also, the weld on one of the mounts isn't as consistent as the other, but only in one spot. The half-moon welds you see on the outside of both mounts look very good. On the backside though, on the one, they just weren't as smooth with one of the beads. No doubt it will hold up.
I know you want pics, but you'll have to wait until tomorrow...
i used those mounts on my 79 460 bronco conversion at $160 for the kit they were not cheap but fit well i am running stock 460 hp so i dont know how they would do with more hp/tork on my 78 reg cab with the 501 stroker in it i broke the stock ford mount with in a week i now have 2 chain/turn buckles 1 on the bell houseing bolt 1 on the front head that held every thing in place
