looking for a ideas

I just bought another Ford 74 f250 2x4 with a 360 and 4 speed Trans. Hasn't been ran since 1993. this was a one owner truck kinda neat original title. Looking at the maintenance done on it he changed oil every 3000 miles since 1975. Anyways brought err home right away switched carbs out rusted soild from mice **** that stuff is nasty, then checked coil good, put new points and condenser in good spark now, pulled plugs cleaned em, compression was good in all 8. So then we go to start it fires fires fires then nothing let it sit start it well idle for 15 sec try again nothing let it sit again it will fire fire fire let it sit then try again it will idle for a 15 sec. Me and my buddy are lost on it and usually can't stump him.looking for ideas

Have you confirmed consistent fuel delivery?

May be a filter or pump issue.

got an electric fuel pump into a 5 gallon can, its a rebuilt carb, fills the bowl up floats working and shes squirting er good into the carb

Does the choke work? Untie it and close it so there is about 1/8" gap. Open the throttle all the way kiinda fast to prime the carb and to set the high idle cam. Now try it. If it starts, slowy open the choke & move the throttle a lil bit.

No difference in using choke does help to hold hand over carb then pulling off it will spit and sputter

Have you done a compression check to make sure the valves are sealing as they should be?

It's a low pressure pump can't exactly remember the psi but I run it on demo cars, and haven't done exact comp test just holding finger over hole
