This might not be the right place to post this but I have to share it. So as I posted before I'm trying to sell my truck. I posted it in the locals and auto trader and cars, com. anyway I get a text from some guy wanting to pay for it now and he was all excited, and wanted for me to delete the add cause he was going to send me the money paypal. So from the get go I got a bad feeling because I only have 2 pictures posted and he didn't ask any questions about the truck he just wanted it now. So I said ok here is my info send me the money and we will talk. I get these emails saying that he sent 9400 because he wanted me to wire western union to a shipping agent. That was when the red flags started to pop up every direction. I did some research online and found his exact same scam. So I text him back and said no I did not agree to this and when you return to from over seas you can do it your self. I get a text back saying well he understands but he's over seas in official duty and Paypal will release the money once you send the escrow or some bullcrap like that. So I text him back nice scam buddy but I suggest you don't text me again and I will report your email to paypal. I hope you don't think this is a joke because I'm a law enforcement officer and I'm going to go ahead and report this Monday morning!...... I haven't got a text back. It is just freaking ridiculous. So beware I'm sure most of you know but I never thought I get hit with it but sure enough someone tried, lucky I followed my gut and common sense.
ive seen scams like this many times. especially when i was looking for a place to rent so many of them sent the exact same cookie cutter email with a different location/scenario basically saying im in this country for this reason send money to this place and the key will be delivered to you....
ive also had people tell me that he cant buy something from me im to let some random person without the money come pick it up and ill recieve the money later....
I've gotten several emails and texts very similar to this before. I just told them to stop trying to rip people off and go get a honest way to make a living. Never heard anything back from any of them.
I found a TDI for sale once and the guy wanted me to pay him some weird way. I told him I had cash in my hand and he wouldn't call me back after that. It was on Craigslist and I did flag him. I was excited too, oh well if it looks too good to be true....
Yup, I only deal with people I see. No cash, no deals! Paypal and ebay have made me realize you can't trust anyone or anything on the internet. I have quit both about 4 years ago now and never looked back.
I use craigslist and only buy or sell to actual people with actual cash.
okay HELLO!??? as someone who deals with Craigslist and online sales every week, I would say 95% of the correspondence are scams. I get emails, texts even phone calls. You all need to see it for what it is. Plain old Paypal with no strings attached or cash in hand is the only way to deal EVER. As soon as they start talking funny, its a scam. If you buy or sell online, prepare for bombardment!

I agree but I have sold so many things online and haven't had issues. But live and learn I'm just very glad I followed my gut!
I sell on ebay all the time and have seen the scams. Never take anything off the market for anyone and if it sounds funny it probably is. A guy forgot to pay one time so I told him he could send cash in the mail so he did but they lost the letter and I got it a month later with the cash in it and sent him his stuff.........just a story but that's how careful I am now.
I used to sell cars at a dealership and did the online sales. I even had one go as far as send me a certified check in my name for $32,000. We called the bank it was written on and it was totally fake.

I got a fake cashiers check one time and it's relatively easy to print one up that looks good enough to the lay person with the printers and scanners they have nowadays.
I love looking at the deals on Craigslist and wonder how many people are stupid enough to get sucked in. Here is one that makes you need a hankie, and you want to help them right away (RIGHT!!!)

If you decide to buy it, you'll receive all the papers, owner manual, keys and a buy-sell contract already signed by me. I have a low price ( $ 3,800 plus shipping cost $300 ) because I want to sell the boat very quickly. My husband died 2 months ago and I along with my daughter decided to sell the house and we moved to my sister in Idaho. Due to the fact I am very busy at work and don't stay too much at home I can't conclude this transaction personally. But I left everything prepared for the sale. The transaction will be made trough Google Checkout. This way you can receive shipping assistance, title transfer help, etc. If you are really interested in purchasing the boat please contact me asap.
Kind Regards,
SSgt. Ashley Rice
