2003 F250 SuperDuty, 5.4L, idle is rough however during moderate or quick acceleration the vibration is horrible around 1500RPM but smoothes out around 2000RPM, without taking this thing to a shop is there anyway of quick troubleshooting that can be accomplished, 6 plugs have been changed, if anyone has had a spark plug blow out on them, this is how it is acting just not as sever of course, is there anyway of diagnosing a coil pack without purchasing a new one for trouble shooting, darn things are not cheap. No check engine light is present
Did a little research, found there is no resistance check that can be done to the the coils themselves. What I found in a service manual is to remove the coils from the plugs, (out of the spark plug hole) and attach an air gap spark tester or equivelant. I would assume you could us a spark plug and ground it to the engine. I don't recommend using the engines spark plugs unless you had them out already(they break off in the heads easily) and crank the engine. It said to disable the fuel pump by disabling the inertia fuel shut off switch. Which is probably by the pass side right footwell. Crank the engine to look for a bluish white spark.Hope this helps.
