Exhaust/carb help needed

Just bought a 72 f100 with the 360 engine, Motorcraft 2150 carb. There is a small metal pipe that connects to the bimetal choke housing. There is also another small pipe that connects to the underside of the top plate of the carb. Both pipes connect to the exhaust manifold. Both of the pipes were broken at the exhaust manifold. I pretty much know that the one going to the top plate of the carb is not a big deal, it is the other one that goes to the choke housing that I am looking for ideas on how to repair it. Or maybe it isn't necessary since the choke also has the water hose snugged against it and it can use the heat from the hose to cause the bimetal choke to pull off.
Thoughts Ideas?

Thank you

The small metal pipe going to the choke housing is typically called a "choke stove".

A couple of options to repair:

1. Get a length of 3/16 tubing and bend up a new one. Oh, coat a drill bit with heavy grease to catch the shavings and slowly drill out whatever remains in the manifold. Flare, install the nut and ferrule, and install.

2. Get a kit from an auto parts store... instead of the OEM style, a shield is clamped to the exhaust manifold... not as clean as factory but it will work. Google "choke stove repair kit".

The heater hose keeps it warmed up when stopped for a short time... important in really cold weather after the initial engine run.

They used to sell repair kits for those. I think I still have a couple in old Dorman stuff. The choke housing has a small vacuum bleed which draws air through the heated portion and into the chamber where the bi-metal spring is. The hose going to the carb is the intake or vent side and without it, you are sucking dirty, unfiltered air into the choke and ultimately your engine. The best thing to do is replace the choke thermostat with an electric one.
BTW, the heater hose will heat it up way too slow and maybe not enough to fully open the choke.
