Hello all, anybody have pictures of there truck with a steel flatbed,home-built or factory built? Thinking of building one & just looking for a few ideas.
Thanks.
Here is one I built for my F550 5" channel outside frame, 3" channel cross members, 2x4 tubing for headache rack, 2x4 tube steak pockets and 2" x 1/4" rub rail, tongue & groove 2x6 treated lumber deck, 2" pop in marker lights
About 800 in materials and 2 days in metal work and another day for wood work.
700lbs in steel and another 260 for the wood. But on a F550 with an 18k GVW that is a drop in the bucket
thats an 8x7 foot bed on a light duty F250. 4" channel around the outside and 3" crossmembers. it was built to have a dump unit installed someday, but someday hasn't come yet.
if i were to do it again, it would be on a dually. the truck tips the scales at 5800 with a full tank of fuel, driver, and spare tires. that means i can only carry one pallet load of blocks before i overload my tires
