2005 4.0L Engine Swap compatibility

I have a blown 4.0L engine in my 2005 Ranger, auto, 4x4, and am looking at a low mileage engine out of a 2004. The Salvage yard book says it will not work and that I can only use a 2005-2006 4.0L engine. I have read other places that say 2004-2006. Can anyone tell me what changes Ford made between 2004 & 2005 and what issues I will run into with this swap?

I looked it up on a site that shows compatible stuff and it said only 04-06 I can say this. Go look at a salvage yard and see how they pulled engine. Save you a pile of time following what they do. they leave almost every thing attached and pull as a whole. Simple unplug a few wires and bolts and out it comes. Were as i took stuff off not knowing It could be left. Not a lot of room around the engine either.

Any used car parts web site. It will look around at all the junk yards in your area and knows what engine swaps with what.
I had to do the same with a 2.3 duratec. site says 03-11 worked for me.

Thanks so much! I used to have a 98 with a 3.0 and that wasn't too bad to switch out, so it will be interesting so see how much less room there is with a 4.0L.
