has anyone here made a small toolbox that would fit on top of the gastank and behind the seat? I am thinking something like the toolbox the 48-52 pickups had behind the seat. I am looking for a place to keep some stuff rather than on the seat or on the passenger floor...
Abe, You can give it a try, there isn't much room unless you have the seat pulled forward. I am short & have mine shoved hard against the wall. You might use pouches for your stuff.

I like my seat back a little bit away from the back of the cab so I can put my right hand there and my fingers down the back when I drive. I think there might be some space if it is kept low as the seat back curves back as it goes up. I will fab up some different sized boxes out of cardboard and if one fits see if I can get the local votech school to make one out of sheet metal...
Let us know if you can get anything of size to work.
I couldn't but you're prolly smarter than me.

OK, John, Will do! But I looked at that area again today and asked myself how will I attach it to the tank or back of cab. I thought maybe I could attach it to the seat springs....
I came across one that sits right on top of the tank just off to the right of the tank sender.
4"X 4" X 25" metal it mounts to the tank upper bolts. Handy for a few items that I like to keep in the cab.. Have no idea what it was originally came out of but found it mounted in a 67..a great find at the loco junk yard. orich

That sounds like I can make one about that size. Will mock one up out of cardboard....
I'll try to get a picture if I can remember it.. orich
Not the best photo I didn't have time to measure the box but you have the idea of mind..
Hope this helps...
