2011 6.7 died

i have a 2011 6.7, bought new about a yr. ago. 18k on it. never a problem. driving to austin today, the engine light came on, running normal. "pull over safely" light came on, with an alarm, and within 1/8 or a mile, died, windows worked, lights worked, radio, etc........ but motor dead....... called dealer service dept (was still during bus. hrs), and he sounded like he knew exactly what it was. a sensor, saying it was running to hot, and shut down to save the engine. he even said, "probably just a bad sensor", no real problem...... shut down that quick ? crazy...... anyway, towed to covert (roadside asst paying for itself) and we will see if it's simple as a sensor, or fuel system.... I'll let everyone know what it is........

I tell you from experience. If the engine blew you would know it.

Sensors are pretty common. If there are stored codes it looks good for you.

Hi Greg, welcome to FTE!

I'm splitting your post off into its own separate thread in the 6.7L forum. That way it's easier for us to discuss your issue and not get it confused with Joel's problem.

On the 6.4 you can bypass that issue if you know for sure that is the cause. But you better have a scanner to check.

Could that be done here too?

there is a jumper off the passenger side battery that you can use. I don't have the stuff with me right now but if I recall use just jump the battery with that to start it.

That does sound very similar to a couple of other sensor issues. I do believe that it is one of the temperature sensors in the exhaust that was the culprit in the cases I read.

I do not recall anyone getting "pull over safely" from an engine, fuel system or even a turbo failure. Not that I have ever read about anyway.

Here is one of the threads but there are a couple similar on here.

Covert Ford in North Austin (right on US 183) has a great service department.
