I replaced the differential shift fork a few years ago and was pleased with how easy the job was. Since that time when I put the truck into 4x4 everything works well until I try to turn, it feels like the front has a live axle in it. Are the differentials in these clutched or open? Im afraid I will eventually break an axle if I get this in too much of a bind. Would changing the fluid help it break loose or will I have to tear it down and rebuild to get it working right?
When your in 4x4 you can't turn the wheels sharp without wheel spraging.
If you could, 4x4 would be near useless with an open carrier and of limited value with a limited slip carier.
There is no limited slip option for the front axle.
Never run 4wd on a dry road surface.
It is for a surface that will allow one wheel to sprag 'a little' when turning
or using 4wd to pull straight, a load where traction is an issue or for traction help off road or in winter conditions.
You do understand that in a turn the outer wheel trys to turn at a faster rate than the inner one.
They can't because there locked togather and try to take over the steering as well..

I know not to run it on dry pavement, but wasnt sure about the live axle feel of it. I suppose I wont worry about it anymore if that is the way its supposed to be.
