I have a question...actually it is two questions.. I had a Jasper HD transmission installed in my 00 f350 with a 7.3 less then a year ago. I was told by the guy that did my gears that I might not have the right TC in it. If it is the one that came with the transmission how could it not be the right one for the truck.. also, I was told the waste gate is not performing correctly..ok i am new to diesels.. what the hell is a waste gate and how do you get it to perform correctly....sorry if it sounds stupid...but new to this diesel thing.. and want to get up to speed..
For the wastegate, which is a valve that on a stock turbo is driven by boost pressure to start to open via a PCM signal at around 5psi and steadily bleed off excess pressure as boost being created from the compressor is being increased.
Was there a code that "the guy" was using to determine a possible issue?
You can test the function of the wastegate diaphram actuator by pressurizing it to see if it moves the rod connected to the wastegate valve.
