I'm trying to revive a '89 f250 that has sat for 3 years......
the tank was full of tar & rust & has been cleaned out.......I borrowed a pre pump & sending unit, as well as the frame rail pump of a similar rig.....still can't get it to run....tried priming it in the intake
so how do I clean out the injectors?
anybody got any cheap ones.....I don't wanna spend a bunch of $$$ on this until I see if it's worth fixin
thanks
if you spray carb an choke cleaner directly in the throttlebody does it try to run, also can you hear the pumps run? they should run for 15 to 20 seconds then shut off when you turn the key to run.
yes it does try to run....the pumps are pumping....I used a squirt oil can with gas in it & sprayed some in the plenum and it tries to start.....is there any way to clean out the injectors?
When I first tried to start the engine I have now, it was like that. So I turned the key to RUN and grounded each of the injector banks to heat them up and unstick them. Each injector should have 1 red wire and one other. 4 will have Red & Tan/Red; 4 will have the same Red & Tan/Org. Don't ground the Red - it's straight battery power. Push a pin thru any one of the Tan/R and use a jumper to ground it for a second, and listen for the injectors to click open. Ground it a few times until you hear all 4 click every time. Then move to a T/O wire and repeat for the other group of 4. (You don't have to do each injector because they're bank-fired.)
