Well, my build honoring my father ran into a snag after the shop I asked to do the work flaked on me at the last minute -- literally one week before the show I planned to enter.
Out of desperation, I put out a call for help in locating a shop in the Bay Area that could do the work last minute no matter the cost. Regardless to say, I got much more than I asked for:
I could not believe the generosity of the guys. I grew up with a couple of them, but for the most part, these guys were total strangers helping out another total stranger.
Thanks everyone, looks like we're gonna make the show!
that thread on the HAMB makes me proud to be a grease-monkey hot rodder! that's what it's all about, helping other people simply for the love of the truck and, in this case, what it stands for.
congrats and enjoy the show, we gotta have some pics though!
That is an amazing thread, and great to see virtual strangers pitching in to help someone out. I grew up in Santa Rosa and got my 53 F100 in cotati for my 16th birthday. Reading about all these guys from the Bay Area coming from all over to help out made me wish I was still down there to be able to be a part of such a great cause helping a fellow F100 owner out.
Definitely makes me proud to be a member of this forum and the HAMB.
Well done everyone that helped out with this, well done!!!
Hey Joe,
Those are great pics!! Glad you & the Hamb guys could get it running for the show - that was very inspirational. It's a wonderful story.
Coming from Texas I'm also struck by how comfortable everyone looks in the car show pics! You guys are lucky - sitting outside in the full sun & actually enjoying it. Car shows are a survival test here in Texas!

Amen, for the folks and the vehicles. It gets a bit warm. Great to see the award. You folks should be proud.
