I just bought a 2005 F250 SD V10 with the fog lights that are fairly close together in the front bumper opening. I need to put a front hitch on but my hitch shop told me the fog lights must be removed. Is there anyone that knows if they can be renstalled in the opening or elsewhere. Is the hitch shop correct?
Most front receiver hitches do require the removal of the fog lights. WARN's model allows you to keep the fog lights but the hitch is $300, roughly twice that of other hitches. IMO get the $150 standard hitch, and spend the other $150 on better fog lights.
It sort of doesn't matter. The BEST hitch isn't going to do any better than the worst hitch. You only use the front hitch to maneuver and park the trailer, so "performance" doesn't mean much, as long as it doesn't fall off or move.

Thats assuming youre using it to park a trailer. What if you're like me and use it for a winch?
Thanks for the reply. I am new to this Truck game. Where would you mount the Fog Lights if they are moved from the Factory location? I can't mount them on top of the cab as the truck wouldn't fit in the garage.
Weld a tab onto a std receiver tube and you are good to go. I have used this for self recovery and recovery of others on several of the fleet. No impact on driving lights.
draw-tite make an excellent front receiver hitch. I have it installed it on mine.
I will tell you that it will block airflow to the stock trans cooler and A/C condenser
I purchased the Curt front hitch and had to REMOVE MY FOG LIGHTS, REMOVE BUMPER, REMOVE TOW HOOKS, and REMOVE SHIM PLATE. Took me over an hour and had a friend help me out but was able to save myself 500 bucks!
I have a front receiver hitch made by Bodiak,( Bodiak Front-End Hitches) it clamps around the tow hooks. and I didn't have to remove the fogs. I use it for a bicycle rack, when towing the trailer, a step when working under the hood, and a bumper protector. Personally, I think it is easier to just learn to back up a trailer as it is to turn a vehicle around, plus the fact that it is harder to see where you are going if you have big trailer in front of you.
I made one similar to the one shown by pbeering. Mine has a flat plate with 4 bolts at the bumper mount, with a tube for a standard drawbar. I don't have a pic handy tho.
