I am looking for a suitable frame to use to build a 42 Ford coe pick up. Was told to check into van frames as the steering box is in the proper location. But no one seems to know what year van to use. Does anyone know of a site that will show frame widths and dimensions for all years? TIA
Basically I just need to know how wide it is at the back of the front door. That and if it is basically straight or if it has a rise in it, or gets wider anywhere. Don't get in a hurry for this, take your time. This is just for a future build, trying to plan in advance. Appreciate the help. I just read that the van uses the same frame as the f series truck, if that is true I can just measure my truck. Thanks for the offer.
last i checked, vans and pickups had different frames, so i'm not sure where you read they were the same. i know for a fact that they're a different width at the rear, as hitch recievers aren't interchangable between pickups and vans. also, the vans have the front wheels farther forward than the pickups do when you compare their position against the bumper.
i would suggest you bring a tape measure next time you find yourself at the local junkyard and spend some time under one - i learn a lot that way!

2010 E250/E350. Most vans should be quite similar.

why not go to a junkyard to measure what you want ?
Well now its got me thinking of a 75-91Eseries body swap onto a 2003 E350 chassis. I have a very solid 79 E250 body and I drive a 2003 E350 diesel, the 2003's body is toast! really shouldn't be on the road without some major work. chassis is perfect and well maintained. I have 1 2003 parts van and 1 1976 parts van. when they get cut up in the spring I might try and do some swap work..............................
I figured mine would run another half a million miles, but the body wont.
mine has 470,000km around 300,000 miles and runs as good or better than when I got it 3 yrs ago at 360,000 km. I push it like its stolen empty but when my trailer is on behind I look after it! no reason why the driveline couldn't do it all over again
