1950 f7 ???

Hi this is my second thread on this old truck. Its a 1950 f7 fire truck. Not 100%sure on the engine. Some say 417ci flat head. Some say 337ci flat head. Question now is. While the truck is running should there be gas in that little glass bulb on top of the fuel pump.

Yes. If it isn't full, after running for a minute, either your pump is bad, your lines are plugged, or there is an air leak in the suction lines.

Can you post a picture of your engine so we can once and for all put to bed this 417 vs 337 thing? There has never been a Ford engine with 417 c.i., flathead or OHV or OHC, so unless someone swapped in a Packard or some other kind of engine, it's a 337.

Hey thanks. I was thinking that could be the case with the fuel line or something. And I will try and post some pics later. But I'm always using the mobile site and don't seem to be able to do that there.

It seems awkward, but whenever you "insert a picture" to one of these threads, the forum is looking for the picture somewhere on the web (which is always available) rather than from somewhere on your hard drive (which isn't always available).

Go to Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and sign up for a free account. Then create an album for your truck. Upload any pics you want to post on FTE to that album. Have this album open on your computer when you want to post pics on FTE.

While you're making a post on FTE, select the pic you want to post from your Photobucket album. When the large version of the pic is open, right mouse click on it and select "View Image Info". The image info will be highlighted and will look something like this:
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...ghtsafter1.jpg

Copy that highlighted info (right click / copy).

When you have the spot in your post where you want the pic to be placed, select the "Insert Image" icon at the top of the post (looks like a mountain) and paste (right click / paste) the image info you copied in the highlighted box (just shows "http://" when it opens).

Your pic will be placed in the post.

Hope that helps.

Hey thanks for that. But maybe since I'm using a mobile phone for internet use. And also the free side of fte the are only 2 options in my cp. I will try it on a real computer but might take a day or 2. Thanks again.

Oh and another thing. I'm guessing since I'm using the free fte. That the adds take over my cp and can't get to all options.

Give the guy a break. He's using the money he would have spent on a computer for truck parts.

Can you help me a little more. I found that this old truck has a newer electric fuel pump. It it runnin ok while setting still but once you put it in gear and take off it wants to cut out. It seams as if its gettin plenty of fuel while not moving but it tries to die once u go to pull out.

Sounds like the electric fuel pump may not have a good ground connection.
