Hello you all so I have a 1967 F100 Short bed i just bought and I am looking zt making it a nice street truck with some power so can you guys help by telling me whats the best way to get these truck to over 400 hp without major money what kind of motor and so on. I will be installing a 07 crown vic front end suspension and a 95 crown vic rear end but i am stuck on what engine to go with so any help will be great thank you guys in advance..
your right sorry see i work at a wrecking yard I can get purty much any used part for cheap so i wanted to start there engine for cheap then build on it cams pis and so on but i really whant a street truck with attitude
Arright... 400 hp on a budget... go with a 460. It can make close to 400 hp , makes torque, and parts are a plenty.
Go to Spike TVs "Horsepower" website and look up their budget 460 build. IIRC, it was something like 395 hp for around $2500.. and that is a fully rebuilt engine with reliable goodies- not add-ons to an existing engine.
i am on a similar quest with my truck. i need around 400 hp also
when you say you are putting the crown vic front end on, my first thought was to put a modular ford motor in it. and since you work in a wrecking yard you could easily get the whole drive train, wiring harness, ecu, fuel system. 2004-06 mach1's make around that power stock.
myself im going the easy route. heads cam intake exhaust and a bottle

Aatlas Auto Recycling and the truck had a 302 . My thing is that if i go with the 460 know and then whant to add more too the engine wouldnt the parts for the 460 be more then like the parts for a 351m? I have been told to do the 351m change the heads to the gt40 form explorer 96 5.0l and then do cams and intake, carb and so on. what do you guys think?

Nope.. waaay more 460s were produced than 351Ms so the principle of supply and demand prevails. The 351M400 is more or less a Cleveland design so the idea of using GT40 heads wont' work - totally different engine architecture. Whoever told you that doesn't know what they are talking about.
You **could** attempt to build a Clevor engine (a Windsor with Cleveland heads) but that configuration is more or less a high RPM application and, in my opinion, incompatible with a very heavy vehicle. Unless of course, it's stroked which can move the torque yield down the curve. Then it becomes decent but at a high cost. A 460 has tons of grunt (torque) down low where it is needed and low buck...Even the stock reciprocating assembly in a 460 is good all the way to 6000 RPM with decent cam and better valve springs.
Whatever engine you choose, do your homework (read, research, confirm), develop a plan, and build the engine right the first time. I've seen too many guys "build" their engine without thinking it through and waste money by changing directions with more and more parts that result in mismatched components.
So it looks like I will go with a 351w and i will do the 5.0 heads mild cam alum intake 4 barel carb any recomendations on distributor type any one using the mallory type?

You went against everyone's suggestions. Lol!
I got a 400hp Windsor in my stang, I'd rather have a big block to be honest
The reason why I decided against the 460 is weight I am putting it on a f100 and evryone hear tells me that whit the front end so heavy i will have tration problems sorry guys new to
