looking to buy..

im looking at a 2002 f150 fx4. triton v8. it has 281,000 miles on the clock tho.. how long do these motors usually last? and if i were to just replace the motor can i get another triton fairly cheap? this truck is an extended cab 6 ft bed, black, needs a little body work and needs 2 front tires, the lady is asking 2,500 but i think shes off her rocker. what would be a fair price to throw out you think?

Imo it's a little high, that's a lot of miles for any engine and truck as well.
If you really want the truck offer low,the worst she can say is no.

My guess is that she's not far "off her rocker" & might have wiggle room down to $2000, but I haven't seen the pickup & don't know its history.

In 281,000 miles it might have had significant major mechanical work?

Regarding the Q of getting "another triton fairly cheap?" you can expect to pay about $2000 for good used motor & installation.

My 2000 F150 4x4 Supercrew has 180k on the clock and doesn't leak or burn oil...strong as the day we got it. But another 100k on the clock, (ased on the truck you're looking at) and not knowing the history...

Like the others said before me..throw her a low number, worst she can say is no. Besides, the market for a 281k mile vehicle is small, she may just on it.

Good luck
