I have a 302 that I pulled out of an 89 1/2t Econoline van. When I pulled the engine apart I found the fuel pump eccentric had no hole in it for a pin. I don' think this motor is original as I think it should be FI but it has a carb. & mechanical fuel pump. What keeps the eccentric from coming loose on the cam gear, will the timing gear bolt alone hold it?
If there is no pin/hole on the timing gear, then that gear probably wasn't made to run a fuel pump. There might be a locating HOLE on the face of the cam gear, that the 2-part eccentric slots into with a tab.
An electric carb fuel pump is always an option... (i havent had awesome luck with those, always need to put a regulator on them).
