84 302 fuel pump

I have an 84 F-150 with a 302 out of a similiar vintage mustang in it. It had a electric fule pump fram the factory. I am sick and tired of burning out electric pumps. The engine has the hoes drilled and tapped whrer the fuel pump should be, but there is no hole for it to go through the block. I am thinking about making a hole with my die grinder but I would like to know if you guys think there will be a lobe on the cam for the fuel pump. This motor is and always was carburated. I was told it was a mustang 302 out of an 80s gt but I am not sure.

I don't think it has the Fuel Pump Eccentric on the front of the cam gear.

what pump are you using???
is it the EFI pump in the tank???

If it doesn't have the eccentric, you can probably simply bolt one on. Are there any junkyards near you that might have a core engine from which you could purchase a timing cover with fuel pump provision? Then you could get the eccentric at the same time, and even a usable fuel pump if you are lucky. You have to check the cover carefully as Ford made a few changes to the cover over the years. I think if it has the same timing pointer as yours, in the right place, you should be OK.

if you keep braking elec. pumps there is a reason for it.

if you are using the pump from the efi system you have to have a return to the tank just like the efi has, if not you are going to burn up the pumps.

how is it plumbed?
or are just going to replace the timing cover and what not??
