One small step for man..
Spare tire wench replacement.
The cable on the wench was snapped and I had no spare tire. Toreador Diesel was kind enough to give me a brand new spare rim with a brand new tire on it a few months ago. I priced the new wench at Ford @ $175, bought one today from a truck salvage yard for $50. I did buy the two piece lowering rod and one of the clips the rod sits in from Ford for $46.00.
Probably not of any importance to anyone but it's a start to working on my own truck. Very easy job, no jack required. Two bolts and that's it.
Old one mounted under the truck.
Off the truck.
Wench off of a '99 F250, exactly the same.
Rim and tire from Toreador Diesel. I used a 1/4" drive ratchet to turn the bar to lower and raise the cable and tire, pictured.
Installed.
And it works! Finally got my bed back.
And the bar from Ford, new.
All in all I'm pretty satisfied with myself, one small accomplishment done today.
