I would like to once again thank you all in advance for any and all opinions.I am wondering if I should sell or keep vehicle,LOVE truck but it might be to much truck for me. Truck runs and I make little runs with it just need to keep putting brake fluid in.
I suggest you run it through KBB and Edmunds to get an idea of value.
Just off the top of my head, I think maybe $7,500. At 300k miles, an XL trim, and I'm guessing standard cab, there isn't going to be a lot of value there. But it can still be a good around-town truck for you. I wouldn't even bother fixing anything except the safety related stuff like the brakes.
Maybe 3,500.00. I'm not trying to insult you or the truck but XL trucks by me at least sell for way less. Also 300k miles is a lot for the rest of the truck. I'm assuming it was a fleet truck based on the XL package. I'm sure it wasn't babied but halfway maintained. Personally I wouldn't pay more than 2,000.

Even with it being a diesel engine known to get upwards of 500k with an Ext Cab,8' bed and 4x4 that's all it's worth? It's a real clean truck albeit has roll up windows and vinyl seats that's all it's worth?
Where are you located? Local market, salt contaminated roads, and history really tell it all. There are a lot of 7.3 diesels on the road around here still and are still selling quick at local dealerships
It depends on where you live tho. The northern winters and salt really tear everything up. Brake lines, oil pans, door bottoms and rockers really take a beating. If the truck is rust free or from a clean area that changes everything. Clean I've seen them from anywhere in 5-6,000.00.

I like your number's and they are in line with KBB and Edmunds.Would you also agree that it also depends on the buyer and what do you think hurts it more being a plain Jane w/t or the miles?
I am in Connecticut, but the truck is from NY and has been properly maintained. My neighbor brought his freind over to look at the truck who currently has two deisel look it over including under the vehicle and fluids,he couldnt believe how good the condition was and based on the cleanliness of the under carriage,he thinks the brake must have rubbed against something and totally ruled out RUST!

I don't know which hurts it more. The regular cab white XL is usually a contractor or municipality truck. Not too attractive to the non-commercial buyer. About the only thing that truck has going for it is the 7.3 diesel engine. People think they never wear out, which isn't really true, but perception is reality for some.
Location is SO important. Around here, a worn out old Corolla will get $2,000. Any truck that runs and drives will get $3,000.
You can use KBB to answer your questions. Just change the features of the truck, and your zip code, and watch how that affects value.
I have a Friend who owns and runs a used car lot. He had a 1999 F250 XLT ext cab 6'bed 2wd 7.3 for sale with 260,000 miles on it. The truck was in ok shape and needed a few little things and had minor rust but it sold for 5,000.00. Im not saying anything negatave but I think someone can still make it a good plow truck or work truck. I think throw some used tires on it, fix the brake line and ask 5,500 for it and you shouldnt have a problem getting that out of it. Any pics?
