Add the Super Cab-esque rear-opening suicide doors (like the K5 Blazer concept at the 2001 Detroit Auto Show), and I'm all over it! No, it may not the dream Bronco we've had threads about, but IF Ford listened to our little market segment (don't worry, I'm not holding my breath), I think it's very realistic since it would be based on the F-150 platform like the previous generation Bronco and Expedition (until the IRS abomination took hold...good God...). Just thought I'd share it with other forlorn dreamers...
Seems like once upon a time someone posted the email contact info for some folks at Ford (brand managers, concept vehicles, etc.)...anyone know where to find that info? With their laser-beam focus on customer service (*cough*), contact info is rather limited on their website. Figured I'd go ahead and annoy someone at Ford with this idea...realizing I'll just get another canned reply from some customer service flunky telling me how 'Built Ford Tough!' the Escape, Explorer and/or Expedition are with their rock-solid IRS...
Sorry...tried to use the URL's for his pics since they wouldn't post from my C drive, but still no dice. I added emailed him encouraging him to post them here and on BON to stir up some more interest in harrassing Ford about the idea.
That K-5 Concept looks like crap, just like the rest of Chevy / GM Trucks. I cannot stand the SQUARE look of the Avalanche and Escalades - what a joke.. and UGLY. I doubt Ford will ever go to the sharp square lines like GM has.....
I had said the Avalance / Escalades are are square-ish / sharp edges. The 2004 F-150 has nice lines.... I am not a fan of GM trucks so I am biased towards Fords
Ok I saw the bronco pics. Very nice, though the back half looks a tad to "tahoe-ish" for me, but otherwise, if I were rich I would buy one. Ford, build it, I'll buy a used one in a few years.
More picture-proof that IF (stress the 'huge-ness' of that) someone addresses this market segment, it'll probably be Chevy and not Ford. Some guy snapped this pic in a side lot at the GM Tech Center (?) while attending a car show earlier this week.
That seems to be the trend for Ford these days....wait for someone else to try something first then copy it....or that is the way it seems sometimes Ford has the idea in the works and takes so long with the concept to get to production that GM or someone else beatsthem to the punch. That Tahoe looks like it sits low possibly 2 wheel drive?
I sure wish they would make that BRONCO! I would sure as heck buy it when i'm a little older.where did you find those pics from anyway? are they really considering the comback of the Bronco or do they want to keep there SUV's all to begin with an E?
oh, and I remember seeing a 2-D Tahoe before, some girl I go to school with has one.
Yes, I do like the look of the 2005 concept pic. If they made one I would definetly have to buy one. Used of coarse, I like it when they have hade about 20,000 miles of brek in and it's much cheaper like this.
I would like to see them bring back the Bronco, but I honestly don't like that concept too much. I mean, it's not bad, but somehow it just doesn't cut it. It looks too modern, like a Tahoe with a Tundra front. I think I've gotten used to the inward-slanting headlights of the current f-150 to the point that I like the look of the upcoming one. But on a Bronco those slanted lights don't look right. Even the newer Broncos are square, with a little modern look, but still basically a "rolling brick" (as mine has been called).
I like the front end of the 92-96's alot, and also the super duty front end. In fact, if they brought back the Bronco with the super duty front it would look great. They could keep the rest of it pretty similar, with the boxy rear bumper and all those things I like about the Bronco. You know, make it look new, but keep the metal. No plastic side-steps or overly pretty molding. Maybe offer it with a real off-road package, like the Rubicon Wrangler. But now I'm just dreaming.
Yeah, I'm afraid you are dreaming when it comes to bringing back the Bronco in some (decent) form AND with a Rubicon-esque off-road package. Once upon a time I was in those threads detailing our ideas for our 'perfect' Bronco (like when the rumor that Ford would bring something out to compete head-to-head with the Wrangler was running rampant. Note: we ended up with the Escape ). Now I'm at the point where I just try to make realistic (as I see it from Ford's viewpoint) suggestions for a new Bronco...specifically basing ideas on existing platforms (i.e., '04 F-150) which would make it relatively easy/cost-efficient for them to produce it.
As far as off-road packages go, looks like 'FX4' is as good as we're going to get at this point...and even that hasn't shown up on an SUV yet. Heck, I'd take a beefed-up version of the Explorer Sport (Ranger FX4 package, including manual t-case) with (or without) the Bronco badge slapped on it and a marketing campaign (not saying it would be necessarily true or realistic) comparing it to the original (66-77 'Classic') Bronco and truly competing in the Wrangler market.
Then again, I've heard the Explorer Sport/Sport Trac platform is on it's way out the door...which would leave us without a solid REAR axle SUV in the Ford stable. Sad state of affairs for the company that once upon a time brought out arguably the most capable stock 4-wheeler ever...okay, at least pre-Wrangler Rubicon...tsk, tsk...
Has Ford ever responded to any of the requests I'm sure people have sent in? Have they ever given a certain number of signatures they'd require to bring the Bronco back, or even research doing so? Family Guy, one of the funniest shows I've ever seen, has a following attempting to bring it back on the air. They want ten million signatures. Sounds crazy.....well, we're up to 8 million. Just wondering if there's any similar proposition, or the idea to set one up, for bringing the Bronco back. And yes, I know it's unlikely to happen, but if it is even being thought of over at Ford, there's always a small chance.
