Look back a few pages and see a write up by golfmedik, he just installed springs from sd.....
I did install springs from SDtrucksprings.com! I upgraded them to the X codes(front snow plow prep pkg on F250-F350) and C codes(rear from '03 4x4 dually w/o overloads). They carry all types of springs including the same spring rate ones that you currently have. I strongly urge you to think about going with f250 springs at leatst the v/b codes. They are exponentially better than the stock ones. Not everyone on here will suggest that, but given MANY people have found this to be answer, I would listen to them. I did. I just wish I had listened a lot earlier!
Has any one used springs from SDsprings.com in place of using oem? Look alittle cheaper, just wondering if there was a diifrence.
Do you mean the OEM 4x4 springs Ford put on the Ex at the factory, or do you mean the OEM V code, B code springs found on the F250/350's that Excursion owners commonly opt to go with when upgrading?
I Think we're in need of some clarification here. Only Ford makes OEM X,V,B,C code springs. Places like sdtrucksprings.com sell aftermarket replacement units, equivalent spec to the OEM's. That's not to say that the aftermarket units are substandard or anything. I think they're great quality springs. If I didn't get such a good deal on used V's, i would have gone to the spring shop down the road and picked up the same ones golfmedik got.
Just curious, but why did you feel that needed clarifying?
The manner in which the OP asked his question, SD springs vs OEM, I thought was pretty clear.
Then my post asked the OP for specificity regarding WHICH OEM springs he wanted to compare to the SD springs, the ones on the Ex or the ones on the F250/350's.

Why do you feel the need to be confrontational and condescending to posters who choose to elaborate and/or try to help others? When i first Joined fte, people helped to.educate me on things. I'm only trying to return the favor and it appears as though you are attempting to scold me for posting something informative.

Really? If I wanted to scold you, I would have, but that's not my normal M.O. I was simply confused as to why you thought clarification was necessary, nothing more, nothing less.
Maybe I didn't use enough smilies to impart my confusion?
I don't see how you thought I was confrontational or even condescending. I was literally trying to figure out if I missed something.
Ease up Big. There was no attitude from me in my post. Take a deep breath.
Have a beer on me.

After your subsequent post, I think I understand. Looking back at your initial post, it was your first sentence that confused me.
I guess if it had been written as, "Hey, just for clarification purposes...." instead of "I think we're in need of some clarification here."
I couldn't see what caused the need. But now I see you were doing a PSA (Public Service Announcement) kind of thing, just so everyone was on the same page, yes?

Ok, now you got me confused. So for clarification...lol were there different OEM springs between a 4x4, 2x4, V10, V8 & TD Ex?
Sorry for the confusion and thanks for the replies. My question was buying V/B's from a ford dealer or buying from SDspring. Planning to do the swap and have looked into lifting or swapping to V/B's, and have read most of posts on here about the swap. I think best direction for me would be the spring swap. Guess I wondered why it seems like most buy from a dealer when SDspring price appears to be cheaper.

Each dealer will be different on price. Some are lots cheaper than others. SDTrucks has shipping costs that are pricey, but I still got them cheaper that way even with shipping.

Ok, now we gots us a comedian here!

Yes, absolutely.
The 4x4's have leaf springs on all four corners. The 4x2's have coil springs up front and leafs out back.
Ford put POS springs on the 4x4 Excursions, and they used three different ones depending on if it's the 5.4L or the 6.8L or the PSD. And since the 4x4 Ex springs suck badly, a very common mod is to replace them with the 4x4 springs Ford put on the F250/350, commonly referred to as the V code, B code mod, even though some people opt for X codes up front or C codes out back.

Thanks Stewart, I have a 4 x 4 PSD so I never looked close at any of the others to see what the differences were. I learn something new everyday. I know about the spring swaps and plan on putting X/C codes one mine.
